Kirtan singer, yoga teacher and Nettwerk recording artist Wade Imre Morisette discovered the path of Devotional Yoga during one of his many trips to India. Wade began chanting because, as he says, "It's a natural way to tune into the frequency of love." A musician since childhood, Wade had also been studying yoga for many years when he began to sing Kirtan. He soon realized he could combine his two passions--yoga and music--to create his own original blend of indie rock/pop music with Sanskrit and English chants. He now tours and performs at yoga studios, retreats and conferences worldwide. Wade has released five albums to date, the two most recent being, “Leela - Pray Through the Dance” and “Mala Meditation,” both available from Nettwerk Records. Shiva Bhangima (Nata Yoga) is the expression of Lord Shiva’s eternal dance, often referred to as the Shiva Tandava or Shiva’s vigorous dance, which is the source of the cycle of creation, preservation and dissolution.
According to the Puranas, Shiva dances a wild and vigorous (tandava) dance in the cremation grounds at night but dances a soft and graceful dance in the tranquillity of the twilight. The Natya Shastra of Bharata Muni is referred to as the fifth veda. The fourth chapter is titled ‘ The Characteristics of the Tandava dance’. At the beginning of this chapter Lord Shiva declares: ‘I have conceived a dance since I am fond of dancing every evening. It is embellished with different karanas and angaharas.’ He goes on to describe the 108 karanas and the 32 anghaharas - the composite parts of the dance and then states: ‘…. the aforementioned 108 karanas enumerated by me may be employed in the course of dance, fight, personal combats and in other special movements like strolling.’
The full practice format will be introduced – karanas, asanas, bandha, kriya, mudra, pratyahara and pranayama. This workshop is open to all levels with some previous yoga experience. for further information on nata yoga, please visit the website: www.shadowyoga.com
