The requirements for entering this program are
as follows:
- one year minimum recent yoga practice (ideally two years or more)
- a sincere willingness to understand and deepen your practice of yoga
- a willingness for individual study and daily practice
- a sincere love for the path of yoga is required for entry into this program
- an entrance interview will also be requested
Year 1 Courses
- Practical Technique Year 1
- Philosophy of the Upanishads
- Philosophy of the Bhagavad Gita
- Anatomy 1
- Anatomy 2
- Sanskrit 1
- The Diaphragms and Respiratory Anatomy with Leslie Kaminoff
- 10 Monthly Seminars*
*Can be taken anytime over the three years
Year 2 Courses
- Practical Technique Year 2
- Philosophy of the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali
- Weekend Retreat
Year 3 Courses
- Teaching Methodology
- Teaching Practicum & Apprenticeship
120 Classes with Yoga Shala Instructors
- 40 classes per year with Yoga Shala instructors are required.
Electives
Additional electives with staff & visiting teachers TBA. Students must complete all courses listed under Years 1, 2 and 3 above and the 120 classes with Yoga Shala instructors for certification by the Yoga Shala of Portland. Electives will add to the total number of hours for certification.
