Timo Jiminez Timo Jimenez is the founder and director of Yogapada, a community of dedicated "Yogins" residing in Portland, Oregon. Yogapada was founded in 1995, and since has been providing a place in which to study an innovative approach to the practice of Classical Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga. As a teacher Timo's core principle is: "Teach what is inside us, not as it applies to one-self, but as it applies to the other." To support students in finding their inner teacher. He strongly believes that Yoga should be adapted to the individual, rarely the individual to Yoga. For this reason, each student will have a slightly different approach to the practice. "At Yogapada we have created an understanding of Yoga relevant for a broad spectrum of students. It is our intention as a Patashala" (School of Yoga), to forge a bridge between the knowledge and wisdom of Yoga and transmitting this to a student base via our individual talents and experience as applied to the changing values of modern lifestyles. By incorporating rather than rejecting ancient and intuitive wisdom's, we are creating individual Yoga practices that are as accurate and powerful as they are relevant and practical". Timo's primary modality for exploration of the self and spirit is a very subtle blending of Classical Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga, Classical Iyengar Yoga and deep awareness meditation teachings. The core of his studies is extensive and ongoing. His training in and completion of the first two traditional series of Classical Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga System as taught by Pattahbi Jois and his Senior teachers (See Inspirations and Trainings) is the template for study and practice. This is combined with an extensive training in the therapeutics of the Classical Iyengar Yoga system, which allows for students to develop a practice that is most suited for the individual. (Timo, under the watchful eye of his current teachers, is currently embarking on the completion of the third series of the classical system of Sri K Pattahbi Jois). Timo also is an adjunct teacher w Tias Littles Advanced teacher Training program. Prior to the last 14 years spent in "Yogic Immersion", Timo trained professionally at the Culinary institute of America in Hyde Park, New York, and spent the majority of his 20 year journey into the alchemy of the kitchen in San Francisco. It was there, in 1993 that he uncovered his love for the "Alchemy of the Yogic Way" (initially under the guidance of Eddie Modestini and Nicki Doane), and has since transformed these talents into a wonderfully dynamic transformational blending. The formal culinary training is now a cornerstone of his teachings. Encouraging those who wish, to explore sustainable and malleable food-intuition, with a combination of Raw, Macrobiotic, and Ayurvedic whole foods nutrition, helping to facilitate a more subtle relationship to nurturing the body through the "Yoga Experience." Those interested in exploring this approach are encouraged to combine this with a series of private sessions. |
