Teresa Zahariades

Teresa's exploration of yoga began in 1989. Her preliminary work in Hatha, Iyengar, Kundalini and Vinyasa-based yoga practices led to her intensive studies in Shadow practice. Seeing yoga as a path into the still center of Self which re-awakens inner freedom and pure consciousness, her present classes combine her interest and knowledge of Shadow yoga, deep restorative work, ayurveda, pranayama and meditation.

She embraces the depth and dynamic stillness found as the vital breath and inner power as cultivated through Shadow practice. Cutting through unnecessary and wasted energy, the Shadow practice is pointed, focused with an emphasis on the gradual unfolding of the removal of excess layers - egoic, physical, and emotional.

She is grateful to her primary teachers Matt Huish (since 2000) and Violet Castenda (since 1989). She is especially appreciative and in awe of annual workshops with Zhander Remete. Teresa views her 15 years of therapeutic work as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker as an extension of her yogic practice. When not at work, she enjoys the mindful attentiveness of bird-watching, hiking, and returning to center through pottery/ceramics.
