Books & CDS
Mantra Mala

|
Mantra Mala – literally means a garland of chants. This book contains a careful selection of chants from various sections of the Vedas, as taught by T Krishnamacharya. The chants in this book are presented in keeping with the teaching methodology adopted at Vedavani, a unit of Krishnamacharya Yoga Mandiram where this tradition is imparted in stages, going from the simplest to the most complex chants. The chants are presented in Sanskrit (the language of the Vedas) along with the corresponding English transliteration and a brief explanation of the meaning. This book is designed to be a useful aid to students and teachers of Vedic chanting.

Mantra Mala; Well-Being (CD)
 |
At the heart of all Indian wisdom, lies the timeless legacy of the Vedas. A collection of sacred hymns that are believed to have been heard by ancient sages when they were in a profound state of meditation, the Vedas contain mantras or chants on a wide range of subjects. Significant among these, are the numerous chants on health and well-being. In the Indian tradition, the idea of good health extends far beyond mere physical fitness, encompassing the mind and spirit as well. Presented in this CD are a selection of Vedic chants that envisage health and harmony for the entire human system. While attempting to preserve the ancient Vedic heritage with strict attention to Vedic chant pedagogy, this CD also aims at carrying forth the profound resonance of these sacred hymns.

Mantra Mala; Light (CD)
 |
The Indian Vedic tradition is replete with chants that venerate this vital force, the sun. Other composers have also written elaborately about the many attributes of the sun, thereby deifying this force of nature. Indeed, the sun is considered one of the most powerful deities, and is much revered by young and old alike.
This CD presents a collection of beautiful Vedic chants in praise of the sun. Also included are slokas or poems on the sun that are equally popular, and no less powerful than the Vedic mantras.
"Mitra," the rising sun, brings into our lives a ray of hope. "Varuna," the setting sun leaves us with the promise of another day. Literally and figuratively, listening to these timeless chants brings not just light into our live, but health and harmony as well.

In Search of Mind

|
A journey in discovering the mind, and its possibilities, this little book on meditation is based on various talks given by TKV Desikachar in Europe. The first part deals with the theme "Knowing the mind", the second "Refining the mind" and the last one "Directing the mind." Most of the book is in the form of question and answers and makes it engaging and "un-put downable".
