Nandini Ranganathan began practicing yoga as a child in Madras, India, taking classes throughout her childhood (sometimes voluntarily) with her mother Lakshmi Ranganathan, and several early students of T.K.V.Desikachar. Her interest in yoga deepened when she studied for a few years (in the 1980s) with T.K.V. Desikachar. She has continued to pursue her studies of yoga independently, sustaining her practice through many conversations with her mother and occasional visits to teachers in India. She teaches workshops and courses on the theory and practice of yoga focusing on history and philosophy, techniques of breath and meditation, advanced asana, as well as yoga for health. From all of her teachers, she has gained a deep respect and appreciation for the teachings of Sri. T. Krishnamacharya whose words inspire her study and practice of yoga. In 2006, she co-authored (with Lakshmi Ranganathan), a translation of the Yogamakaranda of T. Krishnamacarya. She is currently working on a preparing a workbook for yoga as well as a critical sourcebook for pranayama (breath and meditation techniques) from the yoga, siddha, and Tibetan traditions.
