Maureen Clyne

"Lose your head to perceive your heart." - Vijnabhairava Tantra

In every class, Anusara Yoga instructor Maureen Clyne leads her students on a heart-opening journey to embody the Divine. She deftly weaves Yoga's deepest wisdom teachings into her asana sequencing and celebrates the practical, down-to-earth integration of philosophy, love, joy and practice in our daily lives.

Maureen's uplifting style draws on twenty-eight years of personal Hatha-Yoga practice, ten years of teaching, seven years immersed in the ocean of Bhakti, passion for sharing Yoga's amazing tradition, and lifetime tenure at The School of Hard Knocks. Maureen encourages students to experience their inherent Divinity through Anusara's unique universal alignment principles. By mindfully aligning the body, our Prana flows more freely and, "gradually but inevitably," we align with Supreme Consciousness.

Maureen's primary teacher is Anusara Yoga Founder John Friend - with whom she has studied since 1999 - and she is one video away from full Anusara Yoga Certification (please pray for her!). She has two additional teaching certifications, including the two-year, 750-hour Yoga Research and Education Center Teacher Training with Yoga scholar Georg Feuerstein, Ph.D. Maureen studies Jungian Psychology with her mentor Brendan Feeley and Bhakti Yoga with Krishna Das, Jai Uttal and other lights in the Bhakti realm. Her first teachers were Jivamukti Yoga Co-founders Sharon Gannon and David Life, who she still deeply honors.

Maureen holds both a BFA and an MFA in Painting from the Boston University School For the Arts, and an MBA from Georgetown University's McDonough School of Business. Her checkered career includes gigs as an artist, amateur musician, restaurateur, house painter, cashier, public affairs officer, marketing director, lion tamer, art consultant, and Kirtan producer. She is currently writing her first book, "The World of the In-Between."
