The world shone after I walked from my first yoga class in college nearly 13 years ago. I was reminded to go within to access the intuitive voice of Source and answers for my path seemed to suddenly resonate inside of me. So years of singing and dancing from a wee age soon became mantra and asana on sun baked rocks in Colorado solitude. Meditation in the natural perfection of the Rockies supported a knowing of Spirit and there, in a tiny mountain town called Crested Butte, I deepened my yoga practice at the Half Moon Studio. Much gratitude to Gary and Donita Reitz, now at the Iyengar Center of Denver, and the other teachers there who guided my way.
More recently I've been blessed to find the Yoga Shala and to dive deeply into the Hatha yoga discipline through their advanced studies training program. Thank you Matt and Jody for the transformative, formal training of the yoga path. Much gratitude also to the incredible senior teachers who visit the Shala and with whom I have had the honor to study. And many thanks to Lisa Mae Osborn, Char Rice and all of the other inspiring teachers I've experienced along the way.
Nada yoga, the yoga of sound, and giving voice as prayer have been an invaluable compliment to my yoga practice, and I must thank the inspiring sacred sound teachers I have encountered along the way as well including Michael Stirling, Tom Kenyon, Sonya Nelson, and Gina Sala. I encourage the use of voice as a means for inward reflection and personal growth, and currently am honored to lead sound meditations with my partner for the homeless, women and men in addiction recovery, and the public in Portland and beyond. Always, I bow in humble gratitude to Source for this privilege.
My intention is to infuse my yoga instruction with the depth of connection I experience in my personal practice. I believe in slow, flowing movement, work in the pose, and focused Self awareness during class. I teach asana sequences based on classical Hatha technique, complimented by philosophy of the sages, pranayama, and nada yoga. I hope to inspire a knowing of your Highest Self and your greatest potential through inward reflection and inquiry. Within my personal practice and when teaching, I deeply and humbly honor the Divine grace that permeates this practice.
