Kokia Sparis Kokia has been practicing yoga since 1996, when he was introduced to the teachings of Yogi Bhajan. His Kundalini yoga practice led him to study with senior teachers and obtain Level I (160 hour) and Level II (75 hour) teacher training certificates from 3HO and the Kundalini Research Institute (KRI). His studies have taken him to many cities in the US and Europe, where he deepened his practice with training in Sat Nam Rasayan (a healing art related to Kundalini yoga) and Astanga Yoga. He has also studied Iyengar yoga and its restorative components with various teachers including Judith Lasater and Ramanand Patel. He brings to his classes a gentleness and acceptance for all levels, and the intention of peace and opening into each class. Here in Portland, Kokia thanks his sangha of fellow practitioners and teachers, and is grateful to his community. He currently teaches a synthesis of Hatha and Kundalini yoga, suitable for both beginners and more experienced students. Classes typically cover asana, pranayama, bandhas, mudras, in an energizing yet relaxing practice which is designed to cultivate a meditative consciousness, greater vitality, and health. Close |
