with Lita Batho
7:30 - 8:30am, Monday - Thursday
February 6 - 23, 3 weeks • $120
March 5 - 29, 4 weeks • $150
April 9 - 26, 3 weeks • $120
This class focuses on Hatha and Shadow Yoga practices to build a foundation for practice and health. Shadow Yoga draws from classic yoga texts, South Indian martial arts, dance and medicine, and the principles of nature. The practice supports the evolution of health, clarity and strength through finding efficient, natural movement. Complete beginners are welcome. The first level of practice includes basic warm ups and standing sequences, which provide a basic vocabulary of movements. From here the practitioner may build on this foundation to create a sustainable, rewarding yoga practice.
This class is open to all; beginners and those who have practiced other styles of yoga but are new to Shadow Yoga. The immersion form allows for effective learning: over the course of a month, you can expect to finish the class with tools to continue, on your own or in class, for the months ahead.
Partial Registration allowed if students preregister and pay at a rate of $10 per class.

This is an intermediate level Shadow Yoga class with refinement in preludes, asana, and sequencing. Shadow Yoga is a challenging and effective style of Hatha Yoga. The foundation of this style is three Preludes, or set sequences, which the beginner/intermediate student may work with to create a state of capability and awareness, leading to greater benefit from the asana practice. In this class we work with the Shadow Yoga Prelude forms, asana, and a bit of yoga philosophy. The immersion format is conducive to progress, in just one month, one can see the benefit of consistent practice. Lita Batho has been practicing yoga since 1995, and studied with the founder of the Shadow Yoga school, Zhander Remete, since 2003. She has been approved by him to teach in this style.

February 13 - 24

Vi means variety and nyasa means placement. Like a magnet, the Vinyasa practice pulls one into the present moment and brings awareness to our place, our actions, and their effects. It is a beautiful practice that unites movement and breath, body and mind. Immersing yourself in a daily practice with a teacher is a great way to inspire your personal practice at home.
This immersion will focus on the sequences that are born from the sun salutation. The focus of linking the movement with breath and sound will be emphasized. The form and discipline of the practice act as a container and within is the creativity that is supported by this form. One’s own practice can be very individual and spontaneous once the framework is established.
Drop in and partials okay with Sweethome's consent. (min. of 6 students)
